Who is Refuah VeChaim and what exactly do we do?
What does Refuah VeChaim want? Our medical charity work is limited by our resources. You can help Refuah VeChaim build a permanent home in B'nai Brak so that we may continue to improve the quality of life for Israel's Special Needs children and their families, in a comfortable and safe environment where they may enjoy themselves every day of the year. We already own the land. We already have all the building permits approved and ready. Now we need your help to raise the funds that will allow us to finance its construction and to turn our dream home into a reality for Israel's needy children and their families. Many wonderful organizations in Israel are dedicated to helping the needy. What makes Refuah VeChaim so special is our unique approach to healing not only the suffering children, but assisting their families, too. In a family with more than one child, where one has special needs, the other children are neglected from receiving their parents full care and attention. The special needs child requires so much time and patience that the parents are run thin and are constantly exhausted from the challenges of daily life.
How does Refuah VeChaim help people? Yair is a mentally handicapped 5-year-old boy who is confined to a wheelchair. He must be fed through a tube directly to his stomach. He also suffers from breathing problems and must continuously breathe through an oxygen mask. His mother recently wrote this note to Refuah VeChaim: What does Refuah VeChaim mean? Our name in Hebrew is "Refuah VeChaim" which translated into English means "Healing and Life" and this is precisely what we tirelessly work around the clock to offer our special children. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and three hundred sixty-five days a year. Our association is carried by the generous donors who sponsor our cause, in prayers and hopes that we can give each and every child beautiful moments of happiness. We believe that every child, even with their own family's limited resources, deserves to express themselves and to satisfy their soul's delights, aside from simply tending to their particular sickness. As Jews, we pray to Hashem for many long and blessed days, and many good years of health and well-being. We pray for ourselves and for our families, and for all the fruit of our loins, for our colleagues and for our friends, and for the people close to us. If, God-forbid, we have a sick friend, or if,heaven forbid, a patient in our home, we will beg and ask in prayer and supplication for Hashem to send him a complete recovery soon, and for all other patients of Israel. In times before modern medicine, Hashem sent emissaries, or Angels of Mercy, in the form of people, to come to the aid of a suffering patient in need, to illuminate the most difficult times of life for the patient and his family, to ease the burden of the difficult and bitter. Today, Refuah V'Chaim offers transportation to the hospital for patients and visitors to their families. There is a waterfall of happiness and joy that travels from one patient to another, giving them satisfaction to the tune of songs and praises. There are dining establishments that provide food rations and hospital grounds. There are people of grace who have relationships with the most powerful doctors of the most well-connected hospitals in the country, and the hardest workers who sacrifice blood, sweat and tears, to help their patients well-bring, while asking for nothing in return. There are blood drives that benefit the needy of Israel without charge. Why does Refuah VeChaim exist? When a child with special needs is born to an Israeli family, there are no words to describe the sorrow that the parents and family are faced with in such a situation. The world is dark for them in a full sense of the word. The family wants their child to remain in their home, with their own family, all the time, so that he or she can be a present member of his household, and part of the home's atmosphere, as every child deserves to be. The child is dependent on constant need and attention and specialized care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How many parents can afford this? How many have the ability? The power? The patience? How will a father and mother manage to take care of their other children, who also need parental guidance and care? Who will offer these parents support, education and encouragment to handle these great responsibilities? Who will speak with them about how to deal with all their stress and demands? Who will ensure to put a smile on their children's faces, while keeping a smile on their own faces while caretaking for their families? The stress that the family experiences is overwhelming. It is tough and truly impossible to describe. The main question is whether or not the parents have the ability in these situations to give their children with special needs the peaceful enjoyment they so desire; to put smiles on their faces. Who will come to their aid? How can I help Refuah VeChaim? Your donation will help Refuah VeChaim continue our good work, including:
